nohandcom
on PDA and PDA-Phones
With nohandcom for PDA/PDA-Phones comes a new version of our accessibility solution
for mobile devices. Needing only a single switch as an input device, nohandcom
gives unlimited access to all the features of these exciting platforms: Phone,
SMS, MMS, Email, Internet, Writing, Reading, Multimedia, Agenda and much more.
nohandcom on PDA/PDA-Phones offers the following input methods:
The Crosshairs: fastest single switch input method
With Crosshairs, there comes an effective, fast and simple input method to PDAs.
It gives the possibilty to make a touchscreen input at any coordinate with only
three clicks - an efficiency that even most Desktop PC mouse input emulators
don't achieve.
A first click starts a horizontal line that moves downwards across the screen.
A second click starts the vertical line. A third click makes a touchscreen input
at the point of the intersection - done! With it comes an easy and intuitive
interface that allows the user to switch fast between stylus input and text
input mode. With these two alone, 95% of all input can be handled.
nohandcom
on PDA/PDA-Phones as a communicator replacement
For those needing augmentive communication (ALS, Locked-In, CP etc) in addition
to being physically unable to handle a phone, there is the possibilty to combine
nohandcom with any of the already available augmentive communication systems
that run on PDAs.
Many communicators have the disadvantage that they can "only" be used
for communication. For those not going to school, communicaion situations arise
only during a small fracture of the day. During the rest, the communicator is
a mostly unused burden that needs to be carried around. Not so if it comes as
a combination of a PDA with augmentive communication facilities: the device
can be used in many ways apart from communication: "Offline" communication
(SMS, MMS, Email), gaming, reading, Internet and much more. "Empty"
time -of which there is sadly an abundance for those suffering from severe disabilities-
can so be used in an independent way: productivity, creativity and recreation.
Recommended
devices
nohandcom is a software based accessibility solution that runs on many devices.
A list of all supported devices can be seen at www.nohandcom.com/devices.html.
From this list, we recommend the following devices that don't need an additional
active component (Bluetooth adapter) and are therefore easier to install and
maintain.
